This Friday, December 20, 2024, a panel of around twenty citizens chosen at random will speak at the Grenoble-Alpes Métropole metropolitan council to decide on the possibility of continued secure cycling development on the Combe de Gières. This is in fact the request made by the Uriage à Vélo collective in its petition

The collective also condemns, in its petition, the development project planned by the Grenoble Metropolis and work on which is about to begin. The EPCI only envisages a discontinuous development in the direction of descent, citing many technical and land difficulties.
« This development is very insufficient and, on certain points, more dangerous than the current situation », once again denounced the collective in a recent press release. “ We request the revision of the current project and the launch of a preliminary study to widen the roadway and create a space dedicated to downhill cyclists », he asserts again.
“When I read this review, I have the impression of hearing Sylvain Laval [vice-président de Grenoble Alpes Métropole en chargé des infrastructures cyclables, Ndlr] “Ah but it’s going to be complicated!” » scoffs Bastien Aude, activist of the collective.
Formed by the Metropolis as part of the citizen petition system, this panel of citizens was tasked with examining, over three Saturdays, the request from the Uriage à Vélo collective. To do this, he listened to a certain number of experts in order to form an opinion and present it to the metropolitan council.
