Why did you choose Saint-Cyr?
For the cooperative aspect between France and Belgium within, among others, the CaMo project [qui vise à créer des compagnies belges et françaises totalement interchangeables, ndlr]. I also wanted to experience life in the French army.
Was your daily life at the Royal Military Academy different from this one?
It’s very similar. Whether at the Royal Military Academy or at Saint-Cyr, we all learn to become NATO officers. This military life suits me well: it is simple, sporty and rigorous.
What will you remember from this academic exchange?
France being a neighboring country with which we share one of our national languages, we were welcomed as if we were cousins! My best memory will remain the stay itself. But my biggest challenge was getting my skydiving license. You still had to jump out of the plane [rires].
What advice did your parents give you before coming?
To work hard, to move forward step by step without wanting to aim too high, too quickly, and to remain humble.
