SNCF Toulouse-Bayonne line: train traffic resumes Friday on two tracks between Lannemezan and Tournay after the landslide

A landslide that occurred on November 9 on the - railway line just before the Lanespède viaduct led the SNCF to reduce train traffic to a single track, causing delays and train cancellations. Traffic will be restored on two lanes starting Friday.

A landslide along the Toulouse-Bayonne SNCF line that occurred on November 9 had a significant impact on train traffic.

“An embankment slide extended over an area 35 meters long and 30 meters wide led the SNCF Réseau teams to adapt traffic to a single track as a safety measure” explain the SNCF services.

An adaptation which has further complicated traffic conditions for travelers already exasperated by delays and cancellations on a busy rail line during daily travel.

The situation should improve from Friday December 20 when trains will once again be able to run on two tracks.

Seen from the sky, the sliding of the embankment is impressive. The SNCF Réseau teams were able to complete the first earthworks and consolidation work just before the start of the end-of-year holidays.

However, travelers will still need to be patient. “The trains will run at limited speed in the work zone in order to secure the operations which will still be in progress” detail the services of SNCF Réseaux.

From January 13, traffic will resume at normal speed.
