Marc planned to go to Saint-Laurent-du- by train to work, like every morning. However, last Thursday, December 12, around six o’clock, a “hustle” at the SNCF station degenerated into a beating of incredible violence.

According to information from the media Actu , the 55-year-old carpenter “was beaten up by several individuals […] on avenue Jules-Grec.” Information confirmed by the Antibes police station and the departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis) of the Alpes-Maritimes, which indicates having intervened on the public highway for “a brawl near of the Antibes exchange hub.

Still hospitalized

The Antibois was treated and transported to Antibes hospital twenty minutes later, in intensive care. His life prognosis was not in jeopardy despite the severity of the injuries, involving multiple fractures, a perforation of the lungs, as well as an “eye popped out of its socket”.

Stéphanie, the victim’s wife, testified to our colleagues: “They put him on the ground and beat him with kicks and punches. He screamed for help and someone must have heard him because they called the fire brigade.”

According to the latter, who consulted doctors, the ITT (total incapacity for work) could last six months. Marc was still hospitalized this Wednesday, December 18, in a physical condition that his family, in shock, describes as “unrecognizable”.

Attackers on the run

What happened? “When the police arrived on site, there was no one there”reports the Antibes police station. Three “young people” are believed to be involved in this attack, but none has yet been arrested.

All that remains is to rely on the testimonies. “We have to wait until the victim is better before we can interview him,” we continue. A complaint was filed this Monday by his wife, who did not wait to provide her interpretation to journalists.

“He was walking quietly to catch his train and three young people passed by pushing him, he told them that the least they could do was to apologize. They took out a tear gas canister and gassed him.” An inexplicable altercation for Marc’s entourage, who assures that he is not violent.

A story possibly filmed by surveillance cameras, which the investigation opened by the Antibes police station and led by the public prosecutor’s office will be responsible for verifying.
