Grasse: Victoria, Marissa and Caroline crowned pole dance world champions in the group category

This is a first consecration for Victoria Torrente and her Red Pole and Passion association. Quite simply a world champion title! Excuse me a little. To achieve gold, the trio composed of Marissa Pierson, Caroline Mathieu and their teacher, Victoria Torrente spent hours and hours on the bar, to be as fluid as possible when presenting the figures. Long-term work recently rewarded in Rome for this association created in in 2018.

“Our goal was gold, Victoria smiles. We were selected last July following the presentation of our video in the group category. In pole art, that is to say 50% technical (with the bar) and 50% art (danse). We worked on our choreography for many weeks to be ready for the big day. We presented figures exclusively for 3 on both bars (static and spinning).”

Suspense, before tears and joy

Before the trip to the Worlds, morale was not high in the trio, because of the injury (torn tendon in the ischio) of one of the dancers.

“We still went there… and we won!” says Victoria Torrente. After a passage of 3’20”, “our best of all the preparation”the verdict fell: 2nd… before being corrected to 1st! A little suspense before the tears and great joy for Caroline, Marissa and Victoria.

After this title, return to daily life with the forty students in Grasse, Peymeinade, and recently at the Mouans-Sartoux studio.

Classes open to everyone, even men

“My classes are open to everyone, from 8 years old. I encourage men to come and try pole dancing. We learn gym figures on a vertical bar. It takes strength to lift the body, and flexibility. Everyone can do it, and the evolution is quite rapid.”

Hook your leg, adhere to the chrome or stainless steel bar, without protection (exclusively on the skin): “At the beginning, you have a lot of bruises and it hurts, but afterwards, it’s okay! The brain has to understand that there is no risk, even if you are not reassured at the start.”

All you have to do is get started…
