Nasir Ahmad Nusrati is currently conducting a thesis as part of the Emergency Reception Program for Scientists and Artists in Exile (Pause). Since 2018, seven international students or researchers, registered at the University of Poitiers, have benefited from this system, set up by the Collège de France. This is funding, for one to three years depending on the case, which allows them to continue their research work.
“The program also offers funding throughout their stay, support in their procedures, training, scientific publication or in their professional integration”develops Marie-Amélie Masselin, head of the Euraxess service center at the university service for international relations and foreign students (SURIEE). “We can accommodate two doctoral students or one researcher per year, regardless of the discipline”she adds.
A diploma to improve the level of French
And as part of the Migrants in Higher Education (Mens) network, the university offers a DU Passerelle Espoir (for “refugee students from the University of Poitiers”). This training, open to those over 18, allows refugees, stateless people and beneficiaries of subsidiary or temporary protection to improve their level of French via the French as a Foreign Language Center (CFLE). “We can accommodate them from beginner level (B1, B2, 12) to advanced level (C1)”indicates Hélène Carpentier, head of the diploma, which has around thirty students of all nationalities.
“In addition to courses, we offer them sporting and cultural activities, and we support them in their professional integrationspecifies Sabrina Delb, international cooperation manager at SURIEE. We have also approached the City of Poitiers as part of a reception and integration contract, which will allow us to welcome more students. »
