What memories do you have of the arrival of the Tour de La Provence 2024?
The last stage of a race is always the finale. What struck me in Arles was that it was quite calm before the arrival of the first riders but there were a lot of people afterwards, more than on the previous stages. The final straight on Boulevard des Lices is magnificent. And then the region’s weather is an asset, with sunshine for the public and sometimes wind, which makes the race more spectacular.
What can we say about the course?
It will not be revealed until January 14, but we want there to be suspense and spectacle. We try to create slightly thrilling racing scenarios. The arrival of the Arles stage will not necessarily be a sprint like the last edition, it will depend on the weather conditions. But you shouldn’t want to avoid a sprint at all costs either because it’s always impressive to see. The runners rush at 70km/h, and even today when I see it, I’m blown away.
What does the Tour de La Provence represent on the professional circuit?
Let’s not forget that the 2023 edition was canceled, but we are making a name for ourselves. 2024 was a new start with a very beautiful edition. The victory of a great runner like Mads Pedersen was also good publicity for the event. Today, the Tour de La Provence attracts renowned riders. But star or not, the race will take place and the spectacle will be beautiful. On Sunday February 16, Arles will experience a big cycling festival.
