The municipal council of Monday, December 16 of the commune of Chenôve, a few kilometers south of Dijon, decided to organize a Referendum d’Initiative Locale (RIL) to allow residents to have their say on the new traffic plan.
Several streets affected
Among these measures, we can cite the lane narrowingthe installation of speed bumpspedestrianization and traffic prohibited to motor vehicles on certain streets, the creation of pedestrian crossings, respect for priority on the right and the implementation of chicanes.
These initiatives aim to make safer travel for all road users, especially pedestrians and cyclists.
The streets Charles Poisot, Alfred Changenet, Claude Chappe, Leon Gambetta, Maxime Guillot and de Marsannay would be affected, as well as the boulevards du Maréchal Leclerc and Henri Bazin.
A question at the heart of the debates
The question asked to residents will be clear: are you for or against the removal of the new traffic plan in Chenôve? The referendum comes after a phase of experimentation with the arrangements put in place since the summer. “As the question is of general interest, it is relevant that it be the subject of a referendum,” explained Mayor Thierry Falconnet in the municipal council.
The electoral campaign will take place from March 3 to 14, each voter will receive ballot papers marked “for” and “against”. For the result to be validated, two conditions must be met: the participation of at least 50% of those registered and obtaining the majority of votes cast. Otherwise, the referendum will only have one advisory value. If the procedure is validated, this referendum will constitute a first for Chenôve.
