Death of Lina: the Strasbourg public prosecutor will speak on Friday, what to expect?

While Lina’s body was found on October 16, 2024 after more than a year of searching, the public prosecutor must speak this Friday, December 20.

Disappeared on September 23, 2023, Lina, a 15-year-old teenagerhad been very actively sought for more than a year, before the macabre discovery made in Nièvre, last October 16. The Strasbourg public prosecutor must express himselfFriday December 20, 2024.

“As a continuation of the investigations”

The prosecution announced the information via a press release which La Dépêche was able to consult. In it, it is written that Alexandre Chevrier, interim public prosecutor of the Alsatian capital, will hold a press conference “as a continuation of the investigations which made it possible to discover the body of young Lina and the conclusions of the medico-legal expertise ordered for the purpose of investigating the causes of death.

In mid-October, when the remains were found, the magistrate specified that “forensic expertise continues actively” and assured to speak again “as soon as the conclusions of the experts will be returned and that the civil parties will have been previously informed“.

A year of research

As a reminder, the case surrounding Lina’s disappearance had been triggered from Saturday September 23, 2023when the 15-year-old girl, who was to join her boyfriend in Strasbourg, never got off the train in which she had to climb. Enormous resources were then deployed to comb the area in Bas-Rhin, in vain.

The investigation entered into a major turning point during the summer of 2024when traces of Lina’s DNA were discovered in the vehicle of a certain Samuel Gonin, a 43-year-old father. This one committed suicide last July 10 and remains the main suspect in this case. It was in a stream in Sermoise-sur-, in Nièvre, that the remains of the victim was found.
