Espace Bourdelle Sculpture, which has 198 members, held its General Assembly, chaired by Nicolas Sudres. Since its creation instigated by Christian André-Acquier in 1977, Rodia Duffet-Bourdelle, daughter of the illustrious sculptor, has been its godmother. Its actions revolve around three axes: practical teaching, knowledge and the dissemination of sculpture. Alix André-Acquier coordinates the association and takes charge of teaching in various workshops: “Learning sculpture is discovering or rediscovering, with emotion, what the child can do with little , it is to marvel at a creative moment, at a warm material, at an unsuspected know-how… It is, above all, knowing how to observe and listen to those who give with generosity and kindness, those who transmit with passion is to create your own path with the beacon of the journey of others.
Practitioners, children, beginners and experienced, work on different materials (glass, metal, wood, stone, earth) during weekly workshops for which five teachers take turns. In addition, numerous courses are offered on weekends.
Espace Bourdelle also includes: interventions in schools in Greater Montauban, with visually impaired young people, with Child Welfare and the Lou Camin foundation, conferences as part of the history of ‘art’ open to all to broaden their knowledge, provoke questions and debate and exhibitions, events, museum visits. The Sculpture Festival is a highlight. This year the theme was ‘Dreams of the Earth’ with Tixador as guest of honor, surrounded by 77 sculptors and 200 works exhibited at the Maison du crieur, at the departmental council, at the Petite Comédie, at the Espace des Augustins. The 2025 edition will have the theme ‘Complementarities.’
