The Trophies of the Association of Cities for Urban Cleanliness (AVPU) organized during the association’s national meetings which took place in on November 27 and 28, allowed 12 communities to present their achievements. It was the Brussels region (Brussels cleanliness) which won the 1st AVPU “Grand Prix”, ahead of the town of Saint-Brieuc. The 3rd award went jointly to the metropolis of and the town of Bourg-en-Bresse.
The 1st “Grand Prize” was awarded to Bruxelles cleanté dependent on the Brussels Capital Region for the organization of the Brussels clean festival which took place on September 21, 2024. The day was dense with the program, fun and interactive events around urban cleanliness and waste sorting, in which some 5,000 people participated.

Sorting in public spaces

The city of Saint-Brieuc was noted for the creation of a third internal location to encourage exchanges between agents of the logistics service which brings together five units including urban cleanliness. The challenge targeted improving the quality of life at work by offering equipment and activities promoting group dynamics.

The 3rd “Grand Prize” was awarded jointly to the metropolis of Lyon and the town of Bourg-en-Bresse. The metropolis of Lyon presented an experiment in sorting in public spaces by road workers. The experiment aimed to locally test the entire process for sorting in public spaces and verifying the specificities of operation.

The town of Bourg-en-Bresse presented a comprehensive plan to combat cigarette butts based on the installation of communication totems that can be equipped with ashtrays, the covering of street bins and strong mobilization elected officials, cleaning agents, traders and users.
