Grand Albi distinguished for its performance in carpooling.

The inhabitants of Albi (Tarn) and its surrounding area, fans of carpooling. “In order to support the purchasing power of households, reduce automobile congestion and better serve the different activity zones of the territory, the Albigeois Urban Community has set up a carpooling service, released Covoit, dedicated mainly to home-work travel“, explains the city in a press release. This operation is carried out in partnership with the operator Karos, a specialist in daily carpooling.
With this service, journeys made by carpooling within the Greater Albigensian area are financed by the urban area: free for the passenger and payment to the driver of €2 per journey and per passenger. Since the launch of the service in September 2023, 2,360 residents have registered on the application. After more than a year of experimentation, the carpooling service has recorded strong growth and has recorded nearly 43,400 journeys made in the region, including 21,700 passenger journeys.
As part of the great sustainable mobility challenge organized by Karos from September 9 to 29, 2024, Grand Albi arrived on the first step of the podium in the most committed territory category. During these three weeks of the mobility challenge, a large number of users took action: 4,580 trips made by 392 carpoolers.
