The National Union of Combatants section of Pont du (UNC Pont du Gard) gathered its members around President René Dumalle, Thursday December 5 at noon for the end-of-year meal at the Les Glycines restaurant. The UNC Pont du Gard has twenty-six members. It is one of the many sections of the departmental UNC which counts in the patriotic associative landscape, with nearly 850 members. The local UNC with its office, René Dumalle president, Patrick Dal Molin secretary and Claude Dhoine treasurer, participates with its flag bearers in the territory's memorial and patriotic ceremonies. After lunch, members joined the association room to honor two members. Marcel Ben Soltane received from the hands of Dominique Colas, elected in Castillon-du-Gard and president of the Veterans of this commune, the bronze medal for youth, sport and associative commitment. Marcel, after a military career in the legion, became involved in local community life. Bernard Petiot received the same medal, this time presented by René Dumalle. Bernard was rewarded for his personal investment in official ceremonies, being standard bearer for several patriotic associations. The glass of friendship concluded this patriotic and cohesive day.
