This Friday, December 13, the Doubs prefecture is organizing a civil security exercise in the municipalities of Villers-le-Lac and Les Planchettes with a test of the FR-Alert system.
Press release from the prefect of Doubs of December 11, 2024:
The Doubs prefecture is organizing, this Friday, December 13, 2024 from 8:30 a.m., an exercise linked to industrial risk concerning the Châtelot dam located in the municipalities of Villers-le-Lac and Les Planchettes (CH). This civil security exercise will test the chain of command as well as the means of alerting and informing the population.
In this context, the FR-ALERT system will be implemented. This system makes it possible to alert populations present in a danger zone in real time by broadcasting an alert signal to mobile phones, consisting of a ringtone and notifications. This tool, complementary to other alert systems, provides information on the danger, the behaviors to adopt to protect oneself and, if necessary, on the evolution of the situation.
The residents of the communes of Villers-le-Lac, Fournet-Blancheroche, Indervillers and Charquemont were warned of the sending of an alert message with the words “EXERCISE-EXERCICE-EXERCISE”, no action or reaction being expected of them. This alert is likely to go beyond the target area, it is likely that residents of other surrounding communities will receive the alert message.
Under no circumstances should anyone driving a vehicle check their phone while driving.
The Doubs prefecture invites the local population to remain vigilant regarding possible false information that could circulate on social networks during this exercise.
