A priori, Élodie de Bretagne's boutique, Dodies and Co, in the heart of the town of Broons (Côtes-d'Armor), is nothing exceptional. It brings together local creators, and others a little further away in Brittany, who offer multiple creations covering different fields.
Jewelry, candles, soaps, sewing in all its forms, etc. Every creator rents a location, There are now around thirty of them, and Élodie Debretagne is paid from sales.
A “classic” operation for a designer boutique, according to the manager, who masters her file to be a designer herself.
“For me, Broons was obvious”
“I started sewing when my third child was born and I didn't like it right away. I started by doing everything that revolved around childhood and then I improved,” recalls the 38-year-old young woman.
The one who will practice different professions since his degree in catering until his reconversion as management assistant took a new professional turn by wishing to make a living from his creations in 2023.
I was shopping and I had a website then I wanted to enter a designer boutique. But in couture, jewelry and candles, there are many designers so I didn't find a place.
Never mind! Élodie takes the bull by the horns and imagines very quickly open your storenot far from his home in Sévignac. “I first did market research with customers and creators. For me, Broons was obvious. »
Offer fair prices
The town, with its dynamic trading town, is an attractive center for the surrounding residents.
“And we don't always want to travel 30 km and go to Dinan or Lamballe to buy something out of everyday life. I also asked the designers to offer fair prices so as not to scare off customers. »
For Élodie, Dodies and Co had, above all, to be a local business.
The seamstress thus added the alterations to his proposals as well as Relais-Colis delivery“I’m also waiting for an agreement for UPS,” she announces.
Local producers on the shelves
Elodie's pretty boutique is also a mine of good purchases from local producers. There we find, in particular, cider from Merdrignac, honey from Plumaugat, chocolate from Saint-Jouan-de-l'Isle and various preserves from Broons.
Little extras that also allow to another clientele to walk through the doors of a somewhat atypical shop in this rural town.
Concept original
Another string to the young woman's creative bow, workshopsoffered in large numbers each month, which allow you to learn manual techniques for make your own objects.
Like little black panties, candles, macrame, jewelry, ceramics, wood, etc. “Depending on the creators, the workshops cost 20 to 50 euros but everything is provided and you leave with your creation. »
A ultimately original concept, adapted to rural environments where local services and discovery of local crafts combine.
