A Christmas tree was stolen during the night of Monday December 2 to Tuesday December 3 in the village of Maurois (North). The town quickly launched a call for help on its Facebook account to try to find the missing tree. A complaint will be filed.
An act contrary to the “spirit of Christmas”. On the night of Monday December 2 to Tuesday December 3, a 2.50 meter Christmas tree was stolen from the street in the small village of Maurois (North).
Stunned and angry to see the disappearance of the tree which adorned Chaussée Brunehaut, at the intersection with Rue d'en Bas, the town hall quickly reacted via its Facebook page, sending a direct message to the thief:
“If the guilty person would like to return our pretty 2m50 tree, the town would be grateful,” we can read in the publication
A complaint considered
Imposing in its size, the tree could not go unnoticed. However, no one reported the theft. The mayor of Maurois, Bernadette Dubuis, expressed her surprise at this act.
“It’s still passing. It certainly required a trailer…”, she explained to La Voix du Nord.
The absence of surveillance cameras in the area could explain the ease with which this misdeed was committed.
Faced with this situation, the elected official plans to file a complaint, unless the appeal launched on Facebook bears fruit: “You never know… maybe next night he will be back!” -she declared to our colleagues. Without success so far.
