The evolution of fuel prices in France: a subject of concern for motorists
Fuel prices are among the major concerns of French motorists. With regular and sometimes unpredictable fluctuations in costs at the pump, planning trips or managing a budget becomes a delicate task. Here is a detailed analysis of recent price developments for the main fuels in France, excluding SP98-E10 and CNG.
Lead Free 98 (E5)
Unleaded 98, a popular choice for its performance, is currently €1.834 per liter. Last week, consumers saw a slight drop of 0.9 cents per liter, or a decrease of 0.50%. Over a one-month period, however, the price increased slightly by 1.5 cents, which equates to an increase of 0.80%. On the other hand, compared to last year, the price has significantly decreased by 5.5 cents, a reduction of 2.90%. This development demonstrates relative recent stability, but a notable decline compared to the tariff levels of the previous year.
Lead Free 95 (E5)
Unleaded 95 (E5), which is often preferred for its more affordable cost, sells for €1.755 per liter. The weekly drop amounts to 1.4 cents, a reduction of 0.80%. Observing a monthly period, the price slightly increased by 1 cent, equivalent to an increase of 0.60%. However, over the year the price fell by 7.2 cents, marking a significant decline of 3.90%. These fluctuations reflect a general trend of reduction compared to the previous year, a factor which could influence consumers’ choices when refueling.

Priced at €1,730 per liter, Unleaded 95 (E10) is slightly cheaper than its E5 counterpart. The price has decreased by a penny over the past week, a decrease of 0.60%. This significant drop could encourage more and more motorists to turn to this alternative fuel, particularly those looking to reduce their energy costs.
