The commune of Saint-Malo-de-Beignon (Morbihan) has just joined the Morbihan Forestry Association (AFCM). The decision was taken at the municipal council, Friday November 29, 2024. Cost of membership: €200 per year.

This association, created in February 2023, today has 42 members. Its objectives: to defend the interests of forest communities. And offer them technical support on various subjects related to forests and wood.

A quarter of the territory made up of forest

“Saint-Malo-de-Beignon is one of the municipalities with many municipal and private forests on its territory (Editor’s note: 25.3% of its territory), underlines Marie-Hélène Herry, the mayor. It is also part of the Brocéliande Massif. It is therefore only natural that we consider joining the AFCM. »

Among the technical subjects that Marie Hélène Herry intends to raise during the next AFCM meetings: the new clearing obligations. And these are “more and more numerous and more and more demanding” in terms of fire protection.
