No gift for Gordo's owneran English bulldog, who burned his animal alive, then 9 months old, in March 2024 in Lognes (Seine-et-Marne).
No longer able to stand the puppy recently purchased with her companion, this young woman ended up burning him alive on nearly 40% of his body with a hair dryer.
A complaint was filed, and the young woman was tried before the Meaux criminal court, Monday December 2, 2024.
Absent in court
Expected this Monday, the owner of Gordo did not show up. According to The Parisianher lawyer, who tried in vain to defend her against the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, Action protection animale (APA) and the associations Ani'Meaux and Stéphane Lamart, admitted that his client “did not feel capable of confronting an audience and animal rights associations”.
And faced with the numerous photos presented in court, the owner receiveda suspended prison sentence, a fine and a lifetime ban on keeping an animal.
The puppy was screaming in pain
“It takes a desire to inflict pain to inflict such serious injuries with this utensil, and clearly the perpetrator did not lack this as evidenced by the state of the puppy,” explained, revolted, Anne-Claire Chauvancy of Action Animal Protection last October.
Annoyed by Gordo, the young woman indicated that she had washed him, then wanted to dry him with a hairdryer in the absence of her companion. She then explains that the puppy squealed in pain under the heat of the utensil, which provoked her anger. She then held him down by force, and he stuck the hairdryer on full power to the skin.
She will explain that the unfortunate puppy was screaming in pain and trying to run away, which only increased her anger and her desire to make him suffer.
Despite particularly serious injuries, “neither she nor her companion saw fit to seek treatment for their 9-month-old puppy, who was still suffering torture. » It was only when his wounds became terribly infected, more than three days after the incident, “that they ended up taking him to a veterinarian. »
It is finally an anonymous report which will allow the immediate seizure of Gordo directly to the veterinarian. Action Protection Animale was entrusted with the care of Gordo.
The investigation carried out by the Torcy police station also revealed repeated violence against the puppy, on the part of its owner, well before these atrocious events. The animal had already required surgery for a hip fracture following violence when he was only three months old.
Today, Gordo is happy in his new family but “will have lifelong consequences. »
