This is the 14th municipality in Val d'Oise to sign this departmental charter, the objective of which is to improve accessibility to sport for people with disabilities.
Laetitia Boisseau, Vice-President of the Department responsible for Autonomy, signed the 14th “Sport and Disability” Charter of the Department with the Mayor of Louvres. The signing also took place in the presence of Anthony Arciero, Departmental Councilor of the canton.
Initiated by the Department in 2022, this charter aims to encourage municipalities to promote and develop the practice of sport and the reception of people with disabilities in Val d'Oise. It makes it possible to combat obstacles to the practice of sport for any person, regardless of the type of disability.
Through its signature, Louvres is committed to 3 aspects:
- A territorial network promoting links and interactions between medical-social establishments and services, associations and sports structures.
- Information and communication by raising residents' awareness of the practice of disabled sports or adapted sports
- Welcoming people with disabilities into the voluntary sector, in particular supporting sports associations welcoming and supporting people with disabilities through subsidies or the purchase of specific equipment.
The municipality thus joins a network of 13 other signatories: Ermont, Eragny-sur-Oise, Osny, Garges-lès-Gonesse, Taverny, Saint-Gratien, Beauchamps, Argenteuil, Franconville, Deuil-la-Barre, Saint-Leu-la -Forest, L’Isle Adam and Bezons.
“Louvres is distinguished by very good initiatives in favor of sport and disability, and you have rightly obtained the Active and Sporty City label. A football club for young amputees, a disabled sports section within the judo club, I'm just citing a few examples. We all know that sports practice contributes to real inclusion and real inclusion promotes sports practice. But when it is society itself that mobilizes, then it goes far beyond this simple inclusion and becomes a fully disabled-welcoming society. » underlined Laetitia Boisseau, Vice-President of the Department for Autonomy, during the signing.
The Department, which has more than 1,000 disabled members, organizes numerous events to introduce people to disabled sports. In addition, 3 athletes supported by Val d'Oise participated in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
