The resumption of La Maison de Savoie and its reopening on September 17, 2023 represents in some way for Jérôme Regottaz the realization of a dream several years old. “I had wanted to buy it for at least 12 years. [Après la vente de l’hôtel-restaurant Ô Pervenches, NDLR]I asked myself the question of becoming a salesperson in the world of food but I found by chance on the Leboncoin site the sale announcement of La Maison de Savoie »he remembers about the address which represents an institution in Chambéry. And for good reason, its origin is to be found in the coffee brand of the same name, created in 1919.
“A small shop then opens to sell coffee, then it is sold by the cup and is subsequently transformed into a tea room before becoming a brasserie during lunch. It is therefore one of the oldest tea rooms in Chambéry”says Jérôme Regottaz, who also specifies that the brand was finally sold to the French roaster Malongo. “He is the custodian of the Maison de Savoie brand”he adds. Thus, as an exchange of good practices, Jérôme Regottaz offers in his store exclusively Malongo coffee, around ten references, in addition to being a reseller of Dammann Frères teas and infusions.
Furthermore, since the takeover, the owner has focused on once again developing the grocery store section. “Customers must get back into the habit of coming, the goal is to restore additional activity”he justifies. At the same time, Jérôme Regottaz juggles morning coffees, hot afternoon drinks but also brasserie activity. It offers a menu made up of homemade dishes that are different every three months. This is complemented by daily menus. In short, “simple dishes and not just Savoyard cuisine”. All in a 1930s-style decoration with an imposing wooden and marble counter, red benches and a ceiling covered in shiny steel.

Jérôme Regottaz
Originally from Montmélian, a Savoyard town located 15 km from Chambéry, Jérôme Regottaz has worked in the hotel and catering sector for 32 years now. “My parents didn’t have this activity but I always wanted to join this profession”he indicates. An internship at the age of 14, desired by his parents to encourage him to change path, ultimately reinforced his choice to join a hotel high school. A profession that suits him wonderfully since he has four cases in Chambéry. The first, in 2001, with the Twist Again Café, a high school bar. Then Café Chabert from 2005 to 2013, with a catering offer at lunch. This was followed in 2013 by the opening of the Ô Pervenches hotel-restaurant, located on the heights of the city, before its sale in 2022.
