Bernese Albert Rösti is the federal councilor considered the most “sympathetic” by the Swiss, according to a survey by the Sotomo Institute, published this Tuesday in the “Tages-Anzeiger”. His party, the UDC, is on the rise and is close to 30% approval from the electorate, the survey reveals.
The head of the Department of Defense, Viola Amherd, comes second and Beat Jans completes the top three. Guy Parmelin is fourth, Karin Keller-Suter and Elisabeth Baume-Schneider are fifth and sixth respectively. Ignazio Cassis comes last with 26% favorable opinions. But if we only look at negative opinions, the Jura socialist seems less popular than her colleague from Ticino: 38% do not consider her sympathetic, compared to 37% for Ignazio Cassis.
The survey was conducted between October 28 and November 11, therefore before Albert Rösti’s disappointment on the extension of the motorways during the last votes. A little over a year ago, a “20 minutes” poll on the popularity of members of the Swiss government already placed the Ticino in last position and Albert Rösti on the podium.
