As the end-of-year holidays approach, aisles of chocolates and other treats abound in store aisles. Thefts are also increasing, particularly in several brands in the east of Haute-Loire. It all started around ten days ago when the Intermarché de Retournac was the victim of a theft of several chocolate bars: around 130. The gendarmerie records a report and the investigation begins.
Three supermarkets targeted in one week
In the space of a week, two other supermarkets in Lantriac and Vorey-sur-Arzon were the subject of this same type of theft. Always using the same process: the chocolate bars are hidden under the clothes. Everything changed on Friday, November 29, it was the managers of the Vorey-sur-Arzon Intermarché who spotted a group of four people committing the mischief. Two women were arrested by the soldiers. The two other men, who accompanied them, took flight. The quartet would already be known for similar acts.
Placed in police custody, the two young women, in an irregular situation, are subject to a summons to appear before the criminal court in the near future and are required to leave French territory.
