The President of the EBRD participates in the Africa Investment Forum in Morocco – Telquel.ma

DDuring his stay, Renaud-Basso will meet Moroccan government officials, including the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, as well as the Minister of Economy and Finance and Governor of the EBRD, Nadia Fettah Alaoui. She will also have discussions with other responsible ministers.

During the AIF, the EBRD President will have informal discussions with Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, on investment opportunities in Africa.

On the sidelines of the event, Renaud-Basso will also speak with Akin Adesina, President of the African Development Bank, to explore synergies between their institutions, particularly in light of the expansion of the EBRD’s operations in sub-Saharan Africa .

Still according to the press release, the president of the EBRD will also meet Abdellatif Jouahri, wali of Bank Al-Maghrib, as well as Chakib Alj, president of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).

One of the highlights of this visit will be the signing of several new investment agreements in various strategic sectors, announced the EBRD. “We are determined to continue strengthening our commitments in Morocco to support economic growth, regional integration and the potential of the green economy“, declared Odile Renaud-Basso. She also welcomed the efforts of the Moroccan authorities to accelerate structural reforms and open the renewable energy sector to private investment.

Since 2012, the EBRD has invested nearly 5 billion euros in Morocco through 106 projects, more than 77% of which concern the private sector. The Bank also provided advisory support financed by the European Union to more than 1,000 Moroccan small and medium-sized enterprises, the press release recalled.
