A yellow rose accompanied two red and white roses

After having himself taken an oath before Philippe Robert, to sit in the new assembly, Paul-Olivier Delannois called the 38 elected officials one by one to install them in their positions as municipal councilors. Coralie Ladavid and Caroline Mitri were entitled to very loud applause from the assembly after Mr. Delannois called them by their name without mentioning their first name as he had done with everyone else. The two Ecolo aldermen did not fail to remind him sharply of their first name.

When installing Marie-Christine Marghem as mayor, Paul-Olivier Delannois gave her a key. “I’ll lend you the key to my office,” he said mischievously.

He also gave her three roses, a bouquet of red and white roses for the colors of the City of Tournai of course, and a yellow rose which in love symbolizes infidelity and betrayal. “I’ll let you give it to whoever you want”, he said. With humor, Ms. Marghem said she appreciated the flowers: “Yellow is the color of the sun.”
