More than 230 schools closed in Paris, 300 in Seine-Saint-Denis… This Thursday, December 5, 2024, the mobilization promises to be massive in National Education. For Périne de Araujo, general secretary of the CGT Educ'action 94 interviewed by Paris newsit reflects “a very strong anger » and responds to the “displayed contempt of Guillaume Kasbarian, Minister of the Civil Service”.

Towards a renewable strike

Several national education unions have called for walkout this Thursday, December 5 and the movement could be renewable according to the general secretary of the CGT Educ'action 94. For the moment two avenues are mentioned: one continued mobilization the next day, Friday December 6, or a strike on December 10, 11 or 12 to align with inter-professional mobilization in the public service.

In the meantime, many establishments in Paris and the inner suburbs will not welcome students this Thursday. In the capital, 230 schools (out of 631) have already announced their closure for the day.

In Val-de-, 80% of primary level staff will join the ranks of the strikers. Unions have little visibility for secondary education since colleges do not declare themselves in advance. As for high schools, staff from the Louise-Michel establishments in Champigny-sur-Marne and Darius-Milhaud in Kremlin-Bicêtre expressed themselves in favor of a strike during general assemblies.

Movement followed in Seine-Saint-Denis and Hauts-de-Seine

In Hauts-de-Seine, 65% of strikers have already been declared and at least 60 schools (out of 670) will be closed according to Fabienne Rouvrais, general secretary SNUipp-FSU 92 at Paris news which specifies that not all establishments have yet responded.

In Seine-Saint-Denis, the rate of strikers is around 78% and more than 300 kindergartens and elementary schools will be closed“highlighting the growing discontent of educational staff, in particular teachers and AESH”, indicates the FSU-SNUipp 93.

Demonstration leaving from Bercy

As a reminder, the inter-union denounces the much-maligned 2025 budget project. Freezing of the index point of civil servants, three days of waiting time for the civil service, reduction in compensation… The reasons for the anger are numerous for the staff of the National education.

Everyone is called to demonstrate in the streets of Paris. The procession will leave Bercy (12th arrondissement), near the Ministry of the Economy, to reach Place d'Italie in the 13th. Departure is scheduled around 2 p.m.
