Review of a year of help for victims of domestic violence: support from the Caf de la Côte-d'Or

In December 2023, as part of the Interministerial Plan for equality between women and men, entitled “All and all equal” (2023-2027), the Caf de la Côte-d’Or put in place essential aid to intended for victims of domestic violence. Today, one year after the implementation of this system, the Caf de la Côte-d'Or publishes its first quantified results and highlights the concrete impact of this aid on the ground.

More than 280 aid paid in one year

This state aid, distributed by Caf, offers immediate financial support to victims of domestic violence, to enable them to seek shelter and cover their immediate needs. With an amount calculated based on resources and the number of dependent children, this assistance is available upon simple request and is paid within two working days.

Between December 1, 2023 and November 30, 2024, more than 280 grants were paid by Caf de la Côte-d'Or, for a total amount of more than €230,000. The average amount allocated to each beneficiary is approximately €840, varying depending on the personal and family situations of the victims. On average, 25 aid was paid each month during the first months of the system's existence.

Accessible and fast help

One of the strengths of this aid is its speed of implementation and its accessibility. It is open to anyone residing in on a regular basis, whether they are a Caf recipient or not, and regardless of their family situation or resources. The only prerequisite is being able to present proof, such as a filing of a complaint or a protection order. This desire to simplify eligibility criteria allows victims to receive financial support without encountering complex administrative obstacles.

An encouraging national assessment

At the national level, the 101 French Cafs paid 33,440 aids, or an average of 2,500 aids per month, for a total amount of 29 million euros. The average amount per aid is €875.53. For Nicolas Grivel, general director of the National Family Allowance Fund, this system embodies “ a major social and societal advance“. He also underlines the speed of intervention of the Caf, with an average time of four days for the payment of aid, and recalls the importance that no one feels ” prisoner by financial constraints« .

An initiative for dignity and freedom

This help has been designed to be used freely, according to the needs of each individual. For the victims, it is above all a question of regaining a little freedom and dignity in a situation of great vulnerability. The first assessment of the Caf de la Côte-d'Or shows that this aid has found its place in the daily lives of people in difficulty, offering essential support in the face of domestic violence.

With this assessment, Caf reiterates its commitment to equality and solidarity, in the hope that these concrete actions make a real difference in the lives of victims and help them rebuild their future.
