“I think I'm kleptomane and that I need psychological follow-up. » This defense alone will not be enough to clear customs the very young adult who stands before the Lorient court this Monday, December 2.
In the last days of September, between Radenac, Guénin, La Chapelle-Neuve and Baud Freeman C., 19 years old, has committed, alone or with accomplices, an impressive series of thefts, fraud and offenses.
A chase between Baud and Camors
Worse, he ended up in a dead end at Camors, pursued by several police vehicles with sirens blaring who chase him from Baud where he was spotted. Roundabouts taken the wrong way, wrong direction, excessive speed, throw of televisions on the police from the stolen car! A crazy outfit that could have been much more dramatic.
At the helm, the young man with the thick beard and shaggy blond hair is not doing well. He admits most of the facts, the theft of two vehicles, the change of license plates, the damagethe theft of numerous credit cards, found in stolen cars or in others whose windows he broke.
“I've taken so many bank cards that I don't know who they belonged to anymore.”
Bank cards that will be used to purchase pizzasof alcohol a you tobacco. “I took so many bank cards that I no longer know who they belonged to,” says the defendant. Surveillance cameras trace his three days of misdeeds and will eventually put the police on his trail.
There is also always, in his story, mysterious accomplices whose name he does not want to give and who would have pushed him to commit offenses. They are, in particular, who burned the first car found charred between Rohan and Bréhan. It was other accomplices who threw the TV sets at the police cars. Arrested with him, they will be exonerated for all other offenses.
“I didn’t think”
But the reality of this young adult adrift is much simpler and sadder: armed with only one college certificate, he left his mother's home ” to be able to go outside, be free and independent “. A life of wandering, without a home, without real work other than a job interview at the Ressourcerie de Locminé which will never take place since it was scheduled for the day of his arrest. When asked why he decided to flee when the police cars wanted to arrest him, he replied in a small voice: “I don’t know, I was scared, I didn’t think,” says the one who has never taken his driving test.
On the benches of the civil parties, all his victims are demanding justice and compensation. Invited to speak by the president, everyone spoke of emotion, fear or a feeling of insecurity of which they were unaware until now.
“He builds his delinquency”
Incarcerated since his arrest, the future of this recidivist(a conviction in January 2024) darkens with two other summons to appear in court in 2025 and 2026 for similar facts. Suffering from epilepsy, he benefits from RQTH status (recognition of the status of disabled worker) which should have allowed him to access aid. But he didn't take care of it.
For the prosecutor, this context is not enough to justify anegative and delinquent spiralthis “multiplicity of acts” and he denounces a young man “who builds his delinquency and tries to escape his responsibilities. »
The court sentenced Freeman C. to 18 months in prison, 8 of which were suspended. He also revoked a 4-month suspended sentence which had been handed down in January 2024 by the Vannes court. His sentence was accompanied by an obligation to provide care and compensate the victims to the tune of approximately 10,000 euros. The defendant therefore remains in prison where he must serve 14 months.
