PPA 2 presents a positive outcome which leads the authorities to plan towards 2030.
We are heading towards a 3rd version of the Atmosphere Protection Plan in Haute-Savoie. A plan implemented in the Arve valley to improve air quality and which has a good track record.
The local air conference wants to continue
The PPA should be extended. This is the decision taken by the 10th Local Air Conference following a positive assessment of the actions carried out. Aid for example for individuals such as the air wood fund, but also the lowering of speeds on motorways or even actions around energy renovation seem to be bearing fruit.
Encouraging figures
“The year 2025 is a pivotal year which should allow us to prepare for the 2030 meeting and respect new standards” affirms the Sub-Prefect of Bonneville.
The air quality report:
Guillaume Brulfert, ATMO territorial representative, presented a positive quantitative assessment both in terms of emissions of pollutants affected by the PPA (PM10, PM2.5, Nox) and concentration. Thanks to PPA2, the gains in PM10 have been doubled compared to what we would have had without PPA and these gains are greater than those of PPA1.
The most effective actions:
For PM10 or PM2.5:
• The Air Bois fund: -27%: -74.2t of PM10; -72.7t of PM2.5
• The ban on the use of open fireplaces: -11%: -30.7t of PM10; -30.1t of PM2.5
• FAE bar turning: -5%: -13.7t of PM10; -12.6t of PM2.5
• Energy renovation: -4%: -11.1t of PM10 or PM2.5
For the Nox:
• The reduction in speed in winter: -6%: -23.2t of NOx
• Energy renovation: -3%: -11.9t of Nox
However, there are still 3 to 4 days of PM10 pollution peaks for a stated objective of 0. Regarding concentrations, PM2.5 the annual average is 13 μg for a objective of 10 μg over the last few years. The limit values for 2030 have already been reached for PM10.
For others, it is appropriate to continue efforts to meet the 2030 target, which provides for a reduction by 2.5 in the limits for PM2.5 and by 2 for NOx.
