The accident occurred on Monday December 2, 2024, shortly after 9 a.m., on the A10 in the Paris-Bordeaux direction, near the town of La Crèche, near Niort. A heavy goods vehicle and a Peugeot Boxer van collided, just near the junction between the A10 and the A83 (PR 364).
The impact took place at the front of the van and the rear of the heavy goods vehicle, in circumstances which remain to be determined. Two men aged 23 and 24 were on board the Boxer, one of them finding himself trapped in the passenger compartment. The firefighters, numbering twelve, intervened to extract him and take care of the two men. They were evacuated in relative urgency to the Niort hospital center.
The driver of the heavy goods vehicle, unhurt, left with his vehicle approximately an hour after the accident.
The gendarmes from the La Crèche motorway platoon were present to secure the accident area, as were the ASF agents. During the intervention, traffic was reduced to a single lane in the Paris-Bordeaux direction, before returning to normal at the end of the morning.
