This was a regular request from users according to the official Idêtes website: the France Idêtes application now no longer needs to scan the identity card to authorize the connection to FranceConnect. Simple authentication by biometrics, pattern or unlock code in the application will suffice.

To take advantage of it, you must download the latest version of the application. Once there, a message “The application is evolving” should appear, inviting you to follow the following steps:

France Identity highlights the advantages of the new method: the simplicity of authentication on FranceConnect without a password or identifier, no longer using NFC and its “random” use, as well as an “ smoother and faster ».

Several points to clarify. First, if using several devices, you will have to repeat the process on each of them. Then, FranceConnect+ authentication always requires reading the CNI. Finally, the most recent identity card (in bank card format) remains mandatory to use the application.
