Haut- writers in the spotlight

On November 29, the University Institute of Free Time (IUTL) organized a conference on Haut- writers.

Author of numerous well-known works from Haut-Marnais, doctor in literature in addition, Annie was in charge of this conference over a period going from the 18the century to the present day. In front of a packed room, Annie Massy presented around ten writers who have written about Haute-Marne, starting with Colin Muset, poet-writer and musician. She continued with Denis Diderot, a native of Langres whose statue recalls a prolific writer through numerous works, including the famous encyclopedia which is undoubtedly the largest work of his career.

The couple Voltaire and Emilie du Châtelet represent a rare and visionary model of intellectual union for the time, sharing a passion for science, philosophy and letters. They will settle in the castle of Cirey-sur-Blaise where they will imagine an intellectual center.

In the 19th centurye century, Jules and Edmond de Goncourt were mentioned. They formed a unique literary duo working together, sharing their ideas. In 1896, Edmond founded the Goncourt literary society from which the most prestigious literary prize in was born. Of course, Gustave Dutailly was presented with his incredible collection which honors the town of with an exceptional endowment of postcards and posters.

Charles de Gaulle, well beyond his political career, also wrote numerous works on the importance of armaments and the greatness of France. Other great authors at the heart of Annie Massy's words: the essential Bernard Dimey, Jean Robinet, self-taught author presented as a peasant writer who speaks about rurality to the world and many other talents indicated on a map available to the public.
