And 61 year old Vendée has been sentenced Thursday November 28 by judicial court of La Roche-sur-Yon for having committed outrages and violence on firefighters.

On August 11, in the middle of the afternoon, in the small town of Saint-Hilaire-de-Voust, firefighters were called to intervene at the home of Francis and his partner. There, they found a drunk couple. The woman tells them that she was hit by her partner. In front of these accusationsfirefighters alert the police which move in turn.

Two interventions for the same drunk couple

At the sight of the police, the woman retracts and assures them that she lied, that she was not the victim of any beating. Firefighters and policemen made sure of this and decided to leave.

But one new call at the end of the afternoon mobilizes the firefighters again at this same home. The woman believes her partner is having a cardiac arrest.

Returning, the firefighters finally discovered a man “very drunk”, but showing no signs of stopping breathing.

Except that when they try to help him, to straighten him up on the sofa, the man is aggressive and uncooperative when carrying out a health check. He begins to insult and threaten them.

“Threats which were taken very seriously, because many hunting weapons were lying around at your home,” the judge reminded him during the hearing.

On the stand, the defendant minimizes. “They were the ones who were aggressive while they were at my house,” he defends himself, ensuring that he is not violent.

“I've had my hunting license for 34 years, that's why I have weapons, but I've never threatened anyone.”

A punch narrowly avoided

This response brings Sarah Huet, public prosecutor, off her hinges, who reminds him why he is on the stand.

“The intervention of the firefighters is to save people, not to respond to the demands of drunken, vehement people who think they are above everyone else,” asserts the magistrate who also does not forget the punch attempt that the defendant brought against one of the firefighters who came to his aid. “It’s because he was able to grab your wrists that he was able to avoid the blow.”

Faced with this “unacceptable” behavior and lack of excuses, it requires 70 hours of community service (Tig) which will turn into six months in prison if they are not executed within the next 18 months.

The sentence made the defendant react, who finally kept a low profile: “I have respect for the firefighters and the police, I am not opposed to the uniform. I was just too drunk. I did and said stupid things and I apologize for them. Contrary to what you think, I’m a little ashamed,” he said in his defense.

The court immediately rendered its judgment and practically followed the requisitions.

This Vendéen will have to complete 70 hours of Tig. And if he does not do them within the next 18 months, his sentence will result in four months in prison.
