The lifeless body of a woman, whose identity is not yet known, was found on December 1 in the Yvette retention basin in Saulx-les-Chartreux (Essonne). A gendarmerie investigation was opened immediately.
It was a walker who made the macabre discovery while walking around the basin which adjoins the Yvette, between Saulx-les-Chartreux and Champlan. It was around 2 p.m. when this man saw a body floating on the surface, not far from the shore.
Firefighters, particularly the underwater unit, were mobilized to the scene in order to carry out reconnaissance of the victim, whose death was quickly noted, and the surrounding area. The Essonne gendarmes then took over to take charge of the remains. A first external examination of the deceased was carried out and did not reveal any trace of the intervention of a third party.
Requested this Monday, the Évry-Courcouronnes public prosecutor's office confirmed “the discovery of the body of a woman in a water retention basin in Saulx-les-Chartreux, this Sunday in the middle of the day”, while specifying that “the The identity and age of the victim are not yet known.
Furthermore, an investigation into “research into the causes of death” was opened and entrusted to the Essonne gendarmerie. An autopsy must be carried out in this regard in the coming days to find out how the victim died. No avenue is favored at this stage.
