Asked about the issues that concern them most “personally”, the French place “difficulties in terms of purchasing power” (38%) at the top, ahead of “environmental protection” (23%) and “the level of delinquency” (22%), according to this survey on “French fractures” for “Le Monde”, the Sciences Po Political Research Center (Cevipof), the Jean-Jaurès Foundation and the Montaigne Institute.

The issue of purchasing power is considered a priority except among supporters of the right-wing Les Républicains (LR) party who are primarily concerned about the “level of delinquency” (34%). Among supporters of the National Rally, it is above all “the level of immigration” (50%) which comes first.

Another lesson from this survey, “is in decline” for nearly nine out of ten French people (87%, 18 points more compared to the presidential election in 2017).

New dissolution

“The French are horrified, even paralyzed, by the events of extreme violence that they witness, live or through the media,” analyzes Brice Teinturier, Deputy Managing Director of Ipsos.

But 53% of them consider that it “is not irreversible”. And only 3% of French people say they are “satisfied or peaceful” when asked about their feeling of belonging to an “angry and very anti-establishment” country. On the answers to be given, almost a third of French people (31%) want a new dissolution of the National Assembly after that decided on June 9, while 52% of them are in favor of the resignation of Emmanuel Macron .

France has been living in a climate of political crisis for six months and the early legislative elections which did not produce a majority. And Prime Minister Michel Barnier is in great danger of being censored on the 2025 budget texts by the voices of deputies from the left and the National Rally.
