Third emergency center in Haute-Loire in number of interventions, Monistrol-sur-Loire is entirely supported by its volunteer firefighters who carried out 1000 interventions in 2024, which also represents 1300 machine trips.
Like the departmental trend, Monistrol saw its number of interventions increase by 5% in 2024. The barracks once again exceeded 1000 exits, 1002 to be exact. And the 1,300 machine exits clearly show the demands of the firefighters, all volunteers, with the exception of the center manager, Laurent Mayer, who is a professional. In ten years, the station has increased by 200 interventions per year. “The center carries out 3-4 interventions per day with an average of 12 firefighters ready to shift during the week. This can rise to 20,” congratulates Mathieu Lartaud, the head of the Eastern Group.
The new barracks had to respond to this evolution of operational activity. “We got there,” appreciates Mayor Jean-Paul Lyonnet who recalled Saturday at Beauvoir that his last oral intervention in this same room, before construction, had been “vigorous and harsh” with regard to the Department and the SDIS to remind us of the need for this investment.
With the oldest section of Young Firefighters celebrating its 50th anniversary, Monistrol is working to provide a pool of recruits for the future.
