Follow L’Orne Combattante
An atmosphere of pride and joy reigns at the René Cassin college in Athis-de-l'Orne (Orne), since the minimal cross country team won first place in the departmental championship.
For the first time in several years, the young athletes in fourth and third grade climbed to the highest step of the podium, bringing a prestigious title in college.
This event brings together approximately 1800 middle and high school students of all establishments in Orne.
Exceptional performance
At the individual level, Suzanne finished in an excellent 8th place out of 216 runners in the junior category. Marceau and Swann rank 27th and 28th out of 299 runners among the juniors.
Concerning the little girls, Elina and Clara finish both on the podium by winning 2nd and 3rd place in front of 190 other competitors, while Léonie ranked 6th, and Jade 20th. An exceptional performance.
As for the junior boys, 229 runners were on the starting line, Albert finished 17th, Clément 18th and Thomas 19th. It is a magnificent finish which allowed them to finish the race together with an excellent ranking.
All these individual results were combined to reveal the team rankings for each establishment: the announcement of the minimal mixed establishment team ranking proclaimed the René Cassin college champion of Orne.
Next step
Building on this victory, the young college athletes are now looking towards the next step: academy championships which will take place again at Haras National Du Pin on December 11th.
The team, full of confidence, is aiming for a new feat, and hopes to proudly represent the Orne department and the René Cassin college, at an even higher level, with in the back of their mind, a new victory which will give them would allow you to participate in the final stage: the French championships.
