ENVIRONMENT / The Fishing Federation in the Alpes de Haute-Provence wishes to set up “a Durance project” to promote this river

Give Durance “its letters of nobility” back. This is the wish of the Alpes de Haute-Provence Federation for Fishing and the Protection of the Aquatic Environment. Last Friday, she presented her “Durance project” to local stakeholders: elected officials, nature protection associations, hunters, Department, Region, Durance mixed union and even EDF had traveled to Peyruis for the occasion.
For the Fishing Federation, the Durance is a “mythical” river that is too often forgotten. However, there are many species of fish such as trout, carp and pike.
To implement this “Durance project”, a diagnosis of existing access to the river was carried out by the Federation because with the creation of the motorway, many access points were modified explains Claude Roustan, President of the Federation of the Alps of Haute-Provence and President of the National Federation for Fishing and Protection of the Aquatic Environment
“It is a great project for the Department but it is also a work of general interest and public service. It is for the entire population, to revalorize the Durance river as a Provençal jewel”, C. Roustan
