Did you know that it was possible to live in the heart of domaine de Chaalisin the south of the Oise? A site renowned for being romantic, notably thanks to its Rose Days, and witness to 800 years of history thanks to its ancient Cistercian abbey.

In the forest ofErmenonvillethis 1,000 hectare site is very popular with tourists, who come to admire its old ruins from the 12^e century, its castle, its orangery, its 13th century chapel^e and its rose garden.

An estate voted third favorite monument of the French in 2023.

Old homes renovated

But it also houses housing ! “In cultural and heritage sites, there is land heritage, which is exploited or which is not. In Chaalis, there is a whole life developing on the estate,” explains Alexis de Kermel, administrator of the estate.

A set of buildings, called “the old commons”, which were once inhabited by farmers, foresters or employees. “The staff at Chaalis have lived for the last hundred years to be close to their workplace,” he says.

In Chaalis, we want to make the most of these accommodations. We redo them as we go along and offer them for rental. Which has several advantages: it prevents the building from falling into disrepair, we receive rent which contributes to our missions and the economic balance of the estate, and it allows us to convey the image of Chaalis differently.

For several years already two families live in the Chaalis enclosure. “One even has a project to create guest rooms in a house on the old Chaalis farm,” marvels Alexis de Kermel.

A new apartment for rent

“The people who live there bear witness to the estate, they have a slightly different approach to visitors. It’s interesting to have this diversification: a monument is made to be visited but another part is made to welcome people,” underlines the man who has been working for the development of the site since 2020.

Especially since for several days, Chaalis has been offering for rental a new apartmentbrand new!

A 3-room duplex accommodation of 51.05 m²composed of two bedrooms, a bathroom and a living room of 29.95 m² with equipped kitchen, to rent for €1,100 monthly rent, presents the real estate ad from an agency Orpi installed in Senlis.

Other renovations announced between 2026 and 2030

A truly unusual place to live. “It’s a privilege that we try to highlight. It’s also an opportunity for us because it brings life to the estate. Tenants will be able to walk around the park and feel at home on this extraordinary site ».

Once this apartment is rented, there is a small house located in the area that I would like to renovate and enhance. From 2026 to 2030, we will try to provide one accommodation per year. We are also considering developing tourist accommodation, which would provide another form of experience.

An apartment presented as an “original property”, for which there has not yet been a viewing.
