Drôme – Romans-sur-Isère – Distinctions: The Jacquemart tower and municipal initiatives rewarded!

The town of Romans has been recognized four times in recent weeks, with various awards. A quick overview of these rewards.

As part of the 35And edition of the “Concours Lumières”, the city of Romans and its emblematic tower gleaned a fine second place, being beaten only by the Grand Rex in .

This national competition rewards long-lasting lighting projects highlighting heritage while integrating energy efficiency and reducing light pollution.

Scripted lighting

The jewel was highlighted by carefully studied lighting effects, designed to bring out these architectural details, such as the Jacquemart man and the copper roof. To do this, three light sequences punctuate the evenings.

Progressive lighting begins at dusk, then an intensification centered on the chime during ringing and a dark mode around midnight, which leaves the barometer and dials illuminating the city.

A program respecting ecology

This project was designed in an approach combining energy efficiency and respect for the nighttime environment.

In close collaboration with the heritage architect and a lighting specialist, the work integrated the particularities of the restoration, such as the renovation of the roof, the urban setting, and the redevelopment of the square.

The lighting device is broken down into eight distinct zones, adjusted according to the ringtones, thanks to a pulse system which synchronizes the lighting with the movements of the machine. The choice of equipment was dictated by maintenance requirements, ensuring reliable and durable operation.

This project, led by heritage and lighting experts, is part of an overall renovation of the site. Since the end of its restoration in 2023, it has welcomed more than 2,000 people, notably on the occasion of the European Heritage Days.

But this is not the only reward obtained by the city!

Two distinctions at the mayors’ lounge

The town of Romans was also awarded two other distinctions on Tuesday, November 19. First of all, there was the silver prize for the Grand Prize for Sustainable Alliances, acquired thanks to the renaturation of Place Jean-Jaurès. A recognition that salutes a relevant project, driven by the city.

A few hours later, Annie-Claude Cocoual, on behalf of the municipality, received the Coup de coeur prize for the interns' house, competing in the Territory & Health category of the “Senior-friendly city” competition. Located in the town, it mainly welcomes interns in general medicine, in order to make them aware of an installation at their place of internship, at the end of their university course.

A prize awarded to the National Assembly

Finally, on Wednesday November 13, Marie-Hélène Thoraval received the Territoria Or prize at the National Assembly. This award follows the establishment of a permanent care service, carried out by retired doctors, within the “Pouchelon” health center.
