All had been made custodians of this historic flag of the Legion of Honor which belonged to the resistance fighter Léon des Landes and the event objective of this trip was to attend and participate with their flag in the rekindling of the flame on the Soldier's grave. unknown.

A particularly moving ceremony which took place on Tuesday, November 28 at 6 p.m. Previously, the procession formed on rue Tilsitt had gone 200 m up the Champs-Élysées blocked for the occasion by the security services.

Exceptional moment when around a thousand people participated in the ceremony: representatives of the State, including Geneviève Darrieussecq Minister of Health, who had wished to be present, 170 flag bearers, soldiers, members of the Flame Committee and 500 young people from schools in the city of Paris, plus our Landes schoolchildren who found themselves placed right at the front, being the youngest.
The flame is rekindled with the help of a sword, held that evening by the Governor of Paris, the Minister of Health and Sam Ricard. You should know that the hand placed on the shoulder of the person officiating transmits the act to around fifteen people, this is the passing of the flame. Next come the speeches, the honors paid to the dead, the laying of wreaths and the national anthem; so many strong moments that will have marked young minds.

For the anecdote, Eric Lagrave, president of the Ygos committee of French Remembrance, had to use his authority to move from the back, where he was drowned at the age of 7, to the front of the young Sam carrying the historic flag from the Landes. A flag of the Legion of Honor being protocolarily a priority, it, moreover, had traveled 600 km carried by childish hands and accompanied by a whole class of Landes schoolchildren.
