An ultra-violent crime and a victim dying on the pavement in the night. This Monday, December 2, 2024 opens before the Paris Assize Court the trial of Abdeljalil K.. The latter, aged around thirty, is on trial for having beaten a sex worker to death during a raid. He incurs 30 years of criminal imprisonment.
Beaten to death during a pass
The story hit the headlines. At dawn on November 8, 2022, a 49-year-old woman was discovered in critical condition Cesária-Évora street in the 19th arrondissement. She received around twenty punches. The victim, hospitalized, died shortly after of his injuries. The latter was a very precarious sex worker.
Finally, on the advice of local residents, the investigators managed to identify the alleged perpetrator, originally from Yvelines. Placed in police custody, he admitted the facts. He explains that he wanted to have sexual intercourse with the victim, before retracting his statement. According to him, the victim would not have wanted to return the money to him. He then beat him badly.
Two witnesses who did nothing
In this case, two other men will also appear before the Assize Court. It is about two municipal agents. They had witnessed the beating of the victim, but did not intervene and did not call for help. The verdict is expected on December 6, 2024.
