It's been just 60 yearss what Monique and Gaston Pilard said yes, on November 21, 1964, at the town hall of Notre-Dame-du-Guildo, which has since formed with its neighbor the commune of Saint-Cast-le-Guildo (Côtes-d'Armor). They both wanted to celebrate this wedding anniversary with their family and friends.
Gaston, community commitment
Gaston Pilard, born July 26, 1941 in Notre-Dame-du-Guildo, made part of the pillars of the commune. Elected to its municipal council from 1971 to 1972 and to that of Saint-Cast-le-Guildo from 1972 to 1995, he is also very involved in the community life for over 50 years.
Since 1965 he has been a member of the FNACA, an association of Veterans of which he was vice-president from 1968 to 1972 and which he has chaired since. Indeed, Gaston Pilard was called to Algeria in 1962, to the 26th Dragon in the Colomb-Béchar sector from where he was released in 1963. As president of the local FNACA, we owe him in particular the organization of the La Croix aux Merles cycling race.
Member of theSports Star of Notre-Dame-du-Guildo in 1965, he was vice-president from 1975 to 1996 and continued in this role at Étoile Sportive de Saint-Cast-le-Guildo until 2013, when he becomes honorary president. The Notre-Dame-du-Guildo Hunting Society also included him in its bodies, first as vice-president in 1971, then president from 1975 to 1996.
His professional career agricultural mechanicat Jehan in Plancoët, allowed him to have a perfect knowledge of the Dinan region.
Monique, essential assistant
Monique, his wife, was also born in Notre-Dame on December 10, 1939. She worked on the farm of his parents, from the age of 14 to support his mother, his father having died in 1948. After having made numerous extras at the L'Émeraude restaurant for wedding and communion meals, she was hired there full time from 1977 to 1995.
She also enjoyed her work as manager of the camping municipal La Clôture for two summers, an opportunity for her to interact with many French and foreign tourists. In parallel with this professional activity she has been and still is theessential assistant of President Gaston’s leadership!
A meeting in the fields
Monique and Gaston met during the field work and were married on November 21, 1964. From this union were born three children : Myriam in 1967, Cécile in 1970 and Yannick in 1972.
