Jutland reached new milestones: in Belgium, annual sales exceeded 100 million euros for the first time, while in the Netherlands, the Danish chain crossed the 200 million euro mark. Operating profit also improved.
Lower prices
During the past financial year, which ended in August, Jysk achieved a turnover of 100.6 million euros in Belgium, an increase of 13.5% compared to the previous year . Operating profit (EBIT) increased by 53.6% to €5.3 million. In the Netherlands, turnover increased by 10% to €200.1 million. Operating profit increased by 20.3% to €23.1 million.
Jysk benefited from investments in further price reductions in the last financial year: more than half of the Danish furniture chain’s popular products were reduced. The retailer also maintained its commitment to expansion. Six new stores were opened in Belgium and the stores in Schoten and Hognoul moved to more spacious premises. A new headquarters has been opened next to the Schoten flagship store. The new stores in Diest and Drogenbos will soon follow.
New distribution center
In the Netherlands, the retailer opened four new stores and nine stores were completely renovated. Almost all stores in the Netherlands have been converted to the new, inspiring store concept. Last summer, the company started construction of a new 147,000 m² automated distribution center in Lelystad, which will be completed in 2026.
“I am extremely proud of the brilliant figures we can present today. This is exceptional at a time when many retailers are struggling. Thanks to the hard work and commitment of our employees, the JYSK train continues to run at full speed,” said Frank Christant, Country Director of Jysk Netherlands, Belgium and France.
Record number of new customers
Jysk also recorded record results internationally, with turnover increasing by 7.6% to DKK 41.4 billion (€5.6 billion). Operating profit increased by 12% to 4.43 billion Danish crowns (594 million euros). Jysk opened 137 new stores in the last financial year and welcomed a record 11.9 million new customers. The Danish retailer now has more than 3,400 stores in 48 countries. The first stores will open in Morocco in spring 2025.
