The agricultural world is not letting up, demanding more support from the government in the face of the difficulties encountered that have become the daily lot of farmers. In this context, the prefect of Meurthe-et-Moselle, Françoise Souliman, received on Monday, November 25, representatives of the agricultural world of the department, the three mutual banks (Crédit Agricole, Crédit Mutuel, Banque Populaire) and the State services concerned (Departmental Directorate of Territories, Departmental Directorate of Public Finances, Departmental Directorate of Population Protection). This time of discussion was intended to discuss the concerns of farmers regarding their financial difficulties.
During this meeting, the three mutual banks made commitments in line with the announcements made a few days earlier by the Minister of Agriculture, Annie Genevard, in order to facilitate farmers' cash flow.
Two types of devices are thus put in place. The first consists of a medium-term loan (2 to 3 years) capped at 50,000 euros to support farmers experiencing difficulties due to climatic or health hazards. The second aims to support farmers who encounter structural difficulties, particularly linked to climate change. It takes the form of a long-term consolidation loan (12 years) granted by banking establishments, backed by a public guarantee.
A meeting that will have to be renewed on a regular basis since the prefecture specifies that Françoise Souliman will receive farmers and mutual banks “every three months” in order to carry out a situation update.
