Cher has revealed that the next album she records will be her last.
The 78-year-old singer has been active since 1964, the year she debuted alongside her ex-husband Sonny Bono, who died in 1998.
Her last original album, Closer to the Truth, was released in 2013. She also unveiled an ABBA cover album, titled Dancing Queen, in 2018 and her first Christmas album in 2023. But Cher has decided that the next album which she is currently working on will be the last of her long career.
The I Got You Babe singer made the revelation during a chat at the Lyceum Theater in London on November 25, as reported by the Sun. “This is probably my last album that I'm going to make. I am very enthusiastic. These are awesome songs and I'm really excited to do it. I’m really excited to do anything now,” she said.
The singer went on to poke fun at her advanced age.
“I'm older than dust now, okay?” » she joked. “I'm the oldest person I meet in almost every room, unless I'm in a nursing home. I don't care if you're 50. I would give anything to be 60 again. I was one hell of a hottie! »
The Believe singer, however, still feels young.
“It's weird too because I know I'm older, but I don't know how to feel about it. I don't know how to feel different from how I've always felt. I like hanging out with young people, not just men. I like young people because a lot of my friends don't want to have fun. They can just be old geezers,” Cher added.
