From Côtes-d'Armor to Italy, the life of Léo Le Quéré, enduro rider

For the Le Quéré, a family from Plouëc-du-Trieux, motorcycling is in the genes. It all started with Fabrice, the father, a former motocross and enduro rider. But today, it is in the direction of Léo, the son, that all eyes are focused. Not that he was born with handlebars in his hands, but almost.

He was only 4 years old when he discovered motorcycles for the first time. Two years later, he was already racing competitively and racking up races (and victories!) in motocross for almost ten years.

The race that changed everything

Then aged 16, his destiny took another turn. “One day my father asked me if I wanted to do an enduro race

. I tried and the result wasn't really there and yet, the next day, a team (Team TM Xcentric ) called us so that I could run the end of the championship with them. I performed in the following competitions, signed for another season and so on. » A career was born and the young Costa Rican became a professional enduro rider.

Aged 26, Léo Le Quéré now lives in Italy, near Turin. “Last season I signed with TM Factory Racing, an Italian manufacturer. Unfortunately, I was injured in my wrist for three quarters of the year, I missed races and it was not until the end of the season that I saw my results improve. So this year I've kind of been demoted and I'm going to ride with Team Support (TM France). I will do the same races in France and in Europe, will always be paid, except that I will not be under the main arbor but in the one next to it. »

On top of the world!

A small disappointment for the driver who was able to console himself with the tricolor jersey. Last October, during the 98th edition of the ISDE (International Six Days of Enduro, the equivalent of the world championship), which took place on the Silleda track (Galicia, Spain), the Breton was with Théo Espinasse, Hugo Blanjoue and Julien Roussaly to represent France. Together, they won the World Team Trophy ahead of the United States. Seven years since that last happened.

“About ten years”

Like any motorized sport, enduro is difficult. Between the training, travel and races that pile up, Léo admits, he sometimes misses his , “especially the family”. But on the other hand, he knows that he still has “around ten years” to give to his sport, before returning to “normal work”, like everyone else.

But until then, while 2025 looms on the horizon, the athlete will, as always, put on his helmet and climb into the saddle, with his sights set on Grand Prix podiums and the title at the next “France ”, because that’s what it means to be a champion…

* Enduro is an off-road motorcycle competition discipline. As with the car rally, there is a route to complete within a given time, generally on roads open to traffic, the “connections”, and timed sectors, the “specials”.
