After the passage of storm Bert, several municipalities in North Isère are still without electricity this Tuesday, November 26. Strong winds and rain damaged the power grid. A critical situation which concerns Valencin, Luzinay and Diémoz in particular. Nearly 700 customers would still be without electricity in the department this Tuesday midday, a figure which is gradually decreasing.

UA large part of our town is without electricity, this concerns around 300 homes. This breakdown particularly affected educational establishments; meals from the canteen had to be thrown away because the refrigerators no longer worked. Children were still welcomed to school, without heating” explains the mayor of Valencin, Bernard Jullien. This town is notably supplied with electricity by Saint-Quentin de Fallavier, which was heavily affected by storm Bert. Since this morning, municipal teams have been hard at work.

This is not the first time that Valencin has lost power; as soon as there is a gust of wind, we experience power outages. This has been a recurring problem since the storm of 2019. On October 17, we had no electricity for 22 hours.” explains the mayor, who hopes that work will take place soon to strengthen the protection of the electricity network.

Our teams are still determining the origin of the fault, but for the moment it has not been possible to identify it. The wind stopped around 10 p.m., but then there were large waterfalls which probably damaged the infrastructure. details Enedis for his part.

The Enedis teams' searches had to be interrupted overnight. To find the source of the outage, officers must walk along power lines to identify where trees may have fallen. In this area, power lines pass through the forest. Tedious work, which started again early this morning. “Substantial resources have been implemented, the crisis plan has been triggered” underlines Enedis. The return to normal remains uncertain for this Tuesday.
