“Five candidates in Puy-de-Dôme in the second round, it’s historic!”: reactions from RN candidates

Two candidates from the Puy-de-Dôme National Rally spent the entire evening of their legislative elections with their activists and supporters in Pont-du-Château. Their three counterparts joined them a few hours later to share the results.

Isabelle Dupré and Nadine Pers shared the evening of Sunday, June 30 with their supporters and the activists of the National Rally in Pont-du-Château. They followed with them the announcement of the results of the votes. Brigitte Carletto, Louis Clément and Benjamin Chalus joined them a little later. The opportunity to get their reaction live.

Louis Clément, candidate in the Clermont-Cournon constituency

“We expected such results, but not with such high scores. We had collected 15% in the first constituency in 2022. The French have understood that change is with us.

Currently, we don’t have a permanent office yet, but it won’t be long, we’re on the rise. We meet in premises, bars, and tonight, it’s important to bring together the close guard with the members of the office to celebrate this victory.”

Isabelle Dupré, candidate in the Riom constituency

“I came second, with about 1,200 votes behind Christine Pirès-Beaune. It’s an excellent result, I’m very happy. It proves that it’s a vote of support, that the voters trust us and that even if the casting directors want to block us, we’re going to destroy the barrier! Five candidates in Puy-de-Dôme in the second round, that’s historic!

Between the two rounds, we have a lot of steps to take, a few markets, trips… I’m lucky to be retired. I ran in the departmental elections in 2021, in the legislative elections in 2022, and this time, we feel that there is Jordan Bardella’s momentum in the European elections. We are a party that stands firm, we have not reached an agreement with parties that are not reliable. And we have a real program! Purchasing power is what matters a lot on the ground, I have had a lot of feedback from people in this sense. The same goes for immigration, we cannot welcome everyone, when we have French people who are suffering. I want to find our values, our French values.”

Nadine Pers, candidate in the Clermont-Montagne constituency

“These results are a great satisfaction. I want to support farmers, personally, I am very attached to the profession. Moreover, Alexandre Lassalas, my substitute, is a farmer. We absolutely must defend our short circuits, fight.

I am also a little moved… Between the two rounds, we must continue to campaign, encourage voters to vote for us. I believe in it, we need change. This is the first time I am running, in all humility and yes I am here, I will be there! I have been with the RN for over twenty years. I ran because of the fed-up feeling, the insecurity… I have confidence.”

How did the inhabitants of Clermont-Ferrand vote in this first round of the legislative elections?

Benjamin Chalus, candidate in the Issoire constituency

“Meeting up tonight will allow us to take a breather. We had a fast, dynamic campaign. We had to deal with many unexpected events. We had a week on the ground. Today, we meet up again, we will celebrate our victories in the first round in a very humble way. Everything is to be finished. We have the opportunity to see each other all in the same place, to enjoy ourselves. We hoped for these results, we felt them, but we were not sure.

Between the two rounds, we will have to optimize our time as much as possible. We only have one week to answer questions and potentially participate in debates. We will see that from this Monday, July 1st.”

How RN activists and supporters experienced this election evening in Puy-de-Dôme

Brigitte Carletto, candidate in the Thiers-Ambert constituency

“It was important to come together again. It was quite hectic because we didn’t have time to prepare a lot of things during this campaign, and the activists helped us. We are a united party, people who helped each other a lot between the different constituencies. The five constituencies are in the second round, it was important.

I didn’t expect my result; to be in the second round, yes, but not at 37%. I thank all my voters and look forward to seeing them next week. I ran for the French people, so that we can carry out the reforms. I ran the campaign and my work at the same time, and now we have a week that is going to be complicated. This week, we are going to put up posters, be present at the markets… This constituency has a lot of problems in terms of agriculture, deindustrialization… We need to revitalize the sector, get health and public services back on track.”
