The Tarn has reached a milestone with the 2024 participatory budget. Driven by record citizen mobilization, this flagship initiative of the departmental council will make it possible to finance 32 projects which will transform the territory. Thanks to a budget of one million euros, these initiatives, chosen by more than 47,000 voters, embody the aspirations of the people of Tarnais.

The Department of Tarn unveiled, this Thursday, November 21 at the Palais des Congrès in Mazamet, the 32 winners of the 2024 participatory budget, an initiative led by Christophe Ramond, president of the departmental council, and Eva Géraud, vice-president in charge of citizenship . It was in a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere, during a ceremony bringing together elected officials, project leaders and committed citizens, that these results were announced. This edition, marked by unprecedented citizen enthusiasm, gathered more than 47,631 votes, establishing a new record, with an increase of 10,000 votes compared to the previous year.

Launched to encourage the participation of Tarnaises aged over 16, this system will allocate a budget of one million euros to the realization of the selected projects. Among the 140 files submitted before April 14, 96 proposals were selected after “a rigorous technical analysis carried out by the departmental services”, declared Eva Géraud.

A participatory dynamic celebrated in good humor

As a reminder, from October 14 to 20, residents were invited to express their preferences online, with each voter choosing up to five projects. Result: 32 winning initiatives, representative of the diversity of the territory and distributed equitably across all cantons.

This ceremony was an opportunity to congratulate the project leaders and to underline the importance of this collective commitment. Applause, warm exchanges and smiles reflected the general enthusiasm. Some winners shared their vision and their satisfaction at seeing their ideas supported by their fellow citizens, while Christophe Ramond welcomed this enthusiasm: “The voters have chosen great initiatives which will transform our territory and improve daily life. of Tarnaises and Tarnais Thanks to this mobilization, we will breathe new life into building the Tarn of tomorrow together.”

The selected projects reflect the aspirations of residents and cover a wide range of themes. Among them, 16 initiatives included within the framework of “Tarn, Terre de Jeux 2024”, 26 focused on culture, heritage and tourist attractiveness, 2 dedicated to digital and technological innovation, as well as 17 projects relating to human solidarity, health and food and 9 “Young people aged 16-25” projects. Finally, 16 proposals highlight sustainable development and the preservation of the living environment.
